If the theater's in the parking lot, where do we park?

There is free public parking on Main Street and the municipal lot located at the corner of Cross and Race Streets (just one block from the theater).

Will there be a tent or covering over the audience?

Nope. To insure air quality we’re foregoing a tent or covering.

What do I do if I have mobility issues?

All seats this season will be accessible to those with most mobility issues (no stairs to climb). If your mobility issues make parking on Main Street or the municipal lot impossible, please contact the box office.

Do I have to wear a mask?

UPDATE! Vaccinated persons no longer need to wear a mask at any time (indoors or out) during your visit to BVT! If you are unvaccinated please continue to wear a facial covering at all times. 

What if it rains?

If the rain is slight, we may forge ahead! (call the box office if you are unsure). If at all possible, we will go forward with the performance, so that means we will wait til the last moment to make the determination to cancel due to rain, in hopes that the rain will stop. The call will be made at one hour til showtime, and that information will be posted on our Facebook page. It is NOT possible to call all patrons in the event of a cancellation (you may, however call the box office at 585 374 6318 up until the scheduled show time to inquire.) Be aware that the box office staff will not wait to answer calls after the scheduled performance time.

However, if the performance is canceled due to bad weather, ticket holders will receive an email within 24 hours to give them information about how to rebook a seat for another performance (of the same play). If you can’t find an available seat that fits your schedule, you can opt to receive a virtual link to watch a performance from home. (Please note, that dates for viewing virtual performances are the same as the live performances, so you’ll need to use your virtual link before the play closes.)

Can I sit with my friends?

Your safety is our top priority. We’ll be placing seats six feet apart. If you are attending with a family member —or someone within your ‘bubble’ that you are safe to be seated directly next to–please let us know when ordering your tickets or subscription. These requests must be made in advance and we won’t be able to move your seats together once you arrive for the performance.

I've been a subscriber for years...what about my regular seats?

With our move outdoors, obviously there will be a new seating arrangement this year. We’ll assign you the best available seats in the order we receive requests. When we move back inside next summer, your regular seats will be waiting for you!

I've enjoyed open captioned performances in the past, will they be offered this summer?

Unfortunately, no. The open captioning equipment is delicate (and very valuable!) so we don’t want to risk having it outside. But we are offering sign language interpreted performances for Florida Girls on Sunday, June 13th at 2:00pm, Just the Ticket on Sunday, June 20th at 2:00pm, and Neat on Sunday, August 29th at 2:00pm!

How do I redeem the credit I requested last season?

Please call the box office at 585 374 6318 for details on how to redeem that credit.

Why are the casts of the plays so small?

We have to keep our actors safe too! With only one or two actors, it’s easier to distance during rehearsal and performance.

I love your musicals, why aren't you doing more this year?

Singing spreads droplets almost as efficiently as sneezing. So, Michael can sing by himself and stay safe, but we don’t want to put an orchestra or chorus as risk. We’ll get back to musicals as soon as we can!

Why has the performance schedule changed?

We made the choice to move to a repertory schedule (where two plays alternate performance days for several weeks) to better keep the designers, directors, and technical staff safer. By  streamlining their work period for two shows at once and then opening and running both shows at once, we keep fewer artists in proximity to each other during that prep period.

What about the cookies? And wine!?!?

Sorry to say, we won’t be selling concessions this season, so that patrons will not have to remove their masks during the performance to eat or drink –keeping us all safer. Bottled water will be available.

Can I bring my own snacks and beverages to the performance?

We ask that you don’t, again, so there will be no need to remove your masks.

What if I'm not feeling well on a day I have tickets?

Please don’t attend if you aren’t feeling well. Stay home, take care of yourself, and keep the rest of our audience safe! You may rebook a seat for another performance (of the same play) by calling our box office. If you can’t find an available seat that fits your schedule, you can

Can I get a refund?

Refunds for purchased tickets and subscriptions are available through June 8, 2021 only. After that date, you may exchange your ticket for a different performance of the same show (pending availability) or opt to receive a virtual link to watch a performance from home. (Please note, that dates for viewing virtual performances are the same as the live performances, so you’ll need to use your virtual link before the play closes.)

 

Where's Chris Handley?

Chris is alive and well in Buffalo, where he is the new artistic director of The Alleyway Theater. (Congratulations, Chris!) He had hoped to be able to return to BVT this summer, but he has to guide his company through the pandemic, which is, as you can imagine—and Karin can affirm– a 24-7 job. We know he’ll be back another year!
